La Bohème Noir

Biography
Cynthia Makiese (Breda, 15 July 1989) is a Dutch curator, organizer and multidisciplinary artist with Congolese roots. Because of her turbulent and colorful childhood, Makiese came into contact with various art forms at a young age, making a path in the creative sector inevitable for her from an early age. She studied fashion and discovered the healing power of connection by organizing events and art projects. In April 2018 she founded The Bohemian Art Collector (TBAC), where she offers a stage (Pleintheater, Screens, Dragons Delight, Roze tanker, Mama's,Vinnies, online) to talented, emerging and undiscovered artists. TBAC creates experiences where connections and collaborations between the artists and the audience are central. The Bohemian Art Collector is one of her projects to build a multilateral community to close the gap between people by broaching sensitive topics, and to create visibility. She is currently working as a curator for Visual Arts at the Pleintheater. She is also working on her first solo performance artworks.
